Novatron Scientific: Water Activity Datasheets

Overview

Scientists and QA professionals don’t just need specs, they need to understand why water activity matters before they can justify an instrument purchase.

Novatron’s original datasheets dumped technical information without context, making it hard for busy researchers to quickly assess whether this instrument solved their specific quality control challenges.

What I created

I designed a datasheet template that walks readers through the “why” before the “what’,  explaining water activity’s impact on product stability, then positioning the instrument as the solution.

The template was applied across their entire water activity range, maintaining brand consistency while making complex technical information scannable and digestible.

Custom visuals

Rather than relying on dense paragraphs, I created strategic visual elements:

A custom water activity diagram that shows moisture migration in layered products – making an abstract concept immediately graspable

An annotated product image using bespoke iconography to highlight features scientists actually care about

A cross-reference comparison table showing the full product range by application and features, so readers can quickly identify which instrument suits their needs, turning a single datasheet into a sales tool for the entire line

Strategic design decisions

The layout prioritises decision-making: applications and benefits appear early, detailed specs come later. Information is chunked into bite-sized sections with clear headings, recognising that researchers are scanning multiple vendor datasheets under time pressure.

The result

Novatron now has professional technical literature that positions them as the credible choice when scientists are comparing suppliers.

The datasheets work as both educational resources and sales tools – helping potential clients self-qualify while building confidence that Novatron understands their quality control challenges.
